A few years ago some friends of mine after hearing me speak so highly of the Many Glacier Hotel spent a four-day second honeymoon there in a lake side suite, they still speak of it fondly to this day. It truly is the only place in America to experience the unforgettable views and ambiance of the Swiss Alps.

This sprawling facility consists of the Many Glacier Hotel and three huge five-story wing additions either directly attached, or connected by a cupola-crowned breezeway.

The Many Glacier Hotel offers guests over 200 rooms: throughout the five-story Many Glacier Lodge and three expansive five-story wing additions.

Value Rooms: are smaller non-view specific rooms located throughout all five-floors of the main lodge and wing additions.

Standard Rooms: have varying scenic views of the surrounding mountains.

Lake Side Rooms: face picturesque Swiftcurrent Lake and are some of the most sought-after rooms at the lodge.

Family Rooms: consist of two-adjoining rooms located on the fourth-floor of various wings.

Suites: are two-room units that have a king sized bed in one room and a double bed in the other, along with a sofa and coffee table. Suites have beautiful views and are located throughout the first, second, and third floors.

A limited number of ADA accessible rooms are available.

All rooms are rustic but comfortable with double, and or twin beds combination’s unless other wise noted. All have a private bath room and phone. Fans, alarm-clocks, ironing-boards and hair dryers are available.

Most rooms have a private or shared balcony to view the awesome scenic surroundings.

Rooms do not have televisions, internet access, or air-conditioning. At this altitude air-conditioning is not needed and no television can compare with the panoramic views available at this wonderful northern Rocky Mountain location.

The Many Glacier Hotel is open seasonally from late-May through late-September.

I’ve been a comedy fan for all my adult life. I’ve seen so many different styles of comedians that I feel like I’m an expert in detecting a comedian who is consistently funny. From the early days of comedy (Jack Benny, for instance) to today’s headliners, nobody has reached the comedic level of Jerry Seinfeld. By virtually any measurement, he is the most successful comedian who ever lived.

The Seinfeld stand up comedy story is an interesting one.

Jerome Allen Seinfeld was born in April of 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Kalman Seinfeld, was of Galician Jewish background and owned a sign-making company. His mother, Betty, is of Syrian Jewish descent.

Seinfeld developed a serious interest in stand-up comedy in his college years, although he was considered the class clown all the way through school. After graduating from Queens College, he found himself at an open-mic night at New York City’s Catch a Rising Star. Fortunately for Jerry, he was noticed by the reigning king of comedy at the time, Rodney Dangerfield (another favorite comic of mine). Rodney had Jerry perform on one of his HBO specials, which started his ascent to eventual stardom.

In 1979, he had a very small recurring role on the Benson sitcom as “Frankie”, a mail delivery boy who had comedy routines that no one wanted to hear. Oddly enough he was fired from the show due to creative differences. It’s hard to comprehend today that anyone would fire Seinfeld from a TV show, but it actually happened. And it wasn’t handled very well. Nobody bothered to tell him he had been fired until he turned up for an episode read-through session and found that there was no script for him.

Of course Jerry was able to overcome this setback, and went on in 1981 to a highly successful appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The Seinfeld stand up comedy act had really impressed Carson, which led to regular Tonight Show appearances over the next several years.

By the end of the decade he and his pal, Larry David started development on a ground-breaking sitcom called the The Seinfeld Chronicles. Later the name would change to the moniker that we all recognize today: “Seinfeld”. They did this to avoid confusion with the short-lived teen sitcom called The Marshall Chronicles.

By its fourth season, “Seinfeld” had become the most popular and successful sitcom on American television. The Seinfeld stand up comedy machine had truly found its mark. The final episode aired in 1998, and the show has maintained its popularity with syndicated re-runs ever since.

Jerry’s post-sitcom career has continued to flourish, with regular appearances in Las Vegas, and in large comedy venues around the country. His focus has been live, standup comedy as opposed to venturing into films as many of his contemporaries have done (Tim Allen and Ray Romano, for example).

2010 has witnessed another milestone in the career of Jerry Seinfeld. He has introduced a new television series that will also prove to be breaking new ground. Jerry is the master of pushing the comedy envelope, and his latest TV effort is yet another example. It’s called the Marriage Ref, and stars Tom Papa, Natalie Morales, and of course Jerry himself. The premise involves real-life couples currently engaged in a conflict (and aren’t we all?). There is a three member panel made up of various celebrities who are showed both sides of the argument. These celebrities then discuss the merits of each participant and vote on their choice of the winner.

The initial reviews of the show were almost universally negative, with many bordering on nasty. Nevertheless, The Marriage Ref was renewed by NBC for another year. It’ll be interesting to see if Jerry can work his magic on this show, and I guess I wouldn’t bet against him. After all, “Seinfeld” was a slow starter in its first year, but was able to evolve into a ratings powerhouse in the ensuing years.

Hopefully The Marriage Ref can do the same.

If you ask me, if anybody can turn around a ratings disaster, its Jerry Seinfeld.

What makes a Fan become a player. Or what turns a player back into a fan?

Think about all the sports stars you see on TV today. Do you think they woke-up one day and became a superstar over night? Or did it takes hours upon hours working on their foot work, passing the ball, catching fly-balls, batting practice over and over. Why did they do this?? because they thought I want to make Millions? Maybe. But, I think it was due to the love of the game and the Dream of making it one day was bigger than what others kept saying to them.

So, How BIG is your dream??

Strategic Color Choices Green will always be present. And that’s great because it functions to absorb and soften some of the stronger colors. It also presents a calming presence since the deeper shades are very soothing. Monochromatic: To create a soothing, restrained statement, pick a monochromatic scheme of one color and its variations (with limited spots of accent if you wish). Gardening Help Tip: Try using different leaf textures, flower shapes, and color shadings to create a lovely, sophisticated outdoor planter. For example, a summer flower palette in white might include tall ‘Casablanca’ lilies above non-trailing petunias. The surface of the pot will stack upward. You can add trailing bacopa (with its tiny white flowers) to complete the display. Complimentary container designs are striking and bold. Since yellow and blue are directly across from each other on the color wheel, this color combination is considered complementary. A spring example of complimentary colors would include yellow daffodils combined with blue hyacinth and bi-colored pansies or crocuses. Delft blue hyacinth, for example, would blend well with a small, softer-colored jonquil (a smaller flower size than the daffodils) to make a less-assertive impression. Analogous, blending colors: If you prefer a softer look and feel, plant flowers with colors next to each other on the color wheel. Green, yellow-green, and yellow would make an analogous planting. In fall, your container garden design can include analogously colored chrysanthemums in yellow, gold, rust, and burgundy. Be sure to select hues carefully so your container design doesn’t appear haphazard.
Emotional Effect of Color

We know color makes us feel something. But what, specifically?

Generally, blues, and purples recede, or seem to be farther away from the viewer, and present a cooler, more reserved presence. Yellows and reds come forward and are much more assertive, creating a “hot” emotional climate.

Gardening Help Tip: To warm up a cool color, move it toward the red or yellow shades. Blue becomes warmer as you move it toward the lavender shades, for example. The opposite is also true. Cool down hot colors by moving them toward their opposites-yellow becomes cooler as you move toward the yellow-greenish tones.

Also, try using these two container design rules:

Repetition. Repeat colors and flower shapes, types, and forms. Repetition is soothing, and very easy to achieve. Plant a flower pot with trailing variegated ivy topped by white calla lilies. In a container garden display, repeat this bi-colored palette or use the ivy in two other clay flower pots.

Odd numbers. For some reason, we humans like odd-numbered groupings. They’re much more satisfying than even-numbered ones and send a message of “completeness” to the viewer. Make sure your container gardening design includes pots in numbers of one, three, five, or seven (etc.) for best effect.

And finally, to add color and light to your shade garden, try these two easy tips:
Use variegated foliage (ones that contain shades of white). They really stand out in semi-or full-shade locations. Also try planting impatiens (especially in the pastel colors). They almost glow in the shade, are very easy flowers to cultivate, and best of all, they thrive in shade.
